Don’t tell the bride!

I have a lush wedding to attend this year and I’m already agonising about what not to wear!

I’m a dress girl through and through so I’ve been plagued by visions of floor sweeping, red carpet worthy gowns that would make celebrity fashionistas weep with envy. Herein lies the problem. It’s some one elses day. The spotlight should be so far away from you it hurts your fashion loving ego.

If you’re fortunate enough to have been invited to a wedding (or two) this year there is one golden rule to be followed, at all times;

Do not turn up on the big day in a floor sweeping white dress… in fact, try and avoid pure white if you can … even if the bride is wearing black and said white dress is so stunning your little fashion heart breaks…

Unless you're the mother of the bride and the bride has given you the go ahead... no. Just no.

Did you fall and bump your head?! Nooooo!

Also, as an aside, check what colour the bridesmaids are wearing so you don’t end up in that awkward situation where everyone stares you out because you’re not following the bride up the aisle. How many times can you whisper “I’m not one of the bridesmaids!!” before it becomes seriously irritating (and life threatening… for the next person that asks).

Beyond these you’re free to indulge in the dress-o-rama that a wedding event brings and what better excuse than renting a dress?

I found these beauties on the GMD (Girl Meets Dress) website and I’m already salivating in anticipation!

Young and chic, add a brightly coloured belt, a pair of matching platforms and you're good to go!

It's not white! Ok.

Cutting it a bit close. Do you think the bride will mind??

Awesome style if you have awesome legs and a nipped in waist!

It's a little limelight stealing but what the heck!

Wearing bright colours is a sure fire way to say "I'm not trying to upstage you I just love fashion!"

Ok. I’m off to indulge! Don’t tell the bride!
