Recenty I’ve been fantasising about my next 9-5 career move (Note, I have a 9-5 and a 6-12).
As a newbie manager I’ve been soaking up all the lessons there are to learn whilst keeping a beady eye on all the hallmarks of a senior manager.
I’ve indulged in daydreams of strutting down broad hallways, nodding at my contemporaries, delegating responsibility and looking awesome in a pair of high-waist tuxedo pants.
You see, my career has been punctuated by fashion.
From the early years when it was cool to wear flowery mini-dresses to my ‘shop assistant’ job…
to the corporate years when it’s been all pressed shirts, designer bags and tailored trousers.
Now that I’m knocking on [senior management] heaven’s door I’m already planning my next awesome outfit. Granted, it’s a tad early but proper planning prevents piss poor performance and I don’t plan on letting myself down.
I’ve already amassed a wardrobe full of shoulder-padded jackets and shift dresses…
I just need to bolster my collection of designer handbags and 5 inch stilettos to cement my claim to corporate infamy…. but first I plan to take the high-waist to heaven by stocking up on some wicked 13inch risers. If it works for Mr Cowell…
